RFID attendance system

Client details are private at their request.

Less time calling names. More time teaching. An attendance system combining software and scanner hardware.

Understanding the problem

Taking attendance repeatedly uses time that teachers could spend with their students. The school needed a way to record attendance through the student’s ID card, while keeping parents informed without adding another task for teaching staff.

Planning the solution

The approach connected the physical and digital parts of attendance: a student’s RFID card, scanner hardware, an attendance record, and an email alert to parents. The scan became the starting point for a process that otherwise interrupted teaching.

Putting it to work

We created an ID-based attendance system using RFID cards and scanner hardware. Scanning a card records the attendance event through the system, replacing the repeated roll call described by the school.

Parent email alerts extend that record beyond the classroom. The hardware, attendance software, and notifications work as one service.

Results

Teachers no longer needed to interrupt teaching for repeated roll calls, leaving more class time for students. Parents could receive email alerts about their child’s recorded attendance, connecting a simple card scan to communication beyond the classroom.
